Chapter 4: The Dungeon

On the World Map

Falling into the hands of Reidric, Leaf was taken away by Imperial forces to Manster.

Manster was under the rule of the Freeji family, a house of nobles put in charge of Northern Thracia by the emperor of Granbell. Reidric, who was once a general of the Kingdom of Conort, was assigned watch of Manster by Lord Blume of the Freeji family.

Leaf had no idea of what he was about to witness...

Opening Cutscene

Reidric:
"Hahaha... Now this is bound to get me a promotion. Dalshin! Don't let that boy escape until the people from Conort come to retrieve him!"

Dalshin:
"Yes..."

Reidric:
"I shall go to the arena. Woman, you will come with me as well."

Eyvel:
"Me? Why..."

Reidric:
"Don't you want to see the girls?"

Eyvel:
"Girls? ...Mareeta and Nanna?"

Reidric:
"That's right. They are doing quite well. Don't worry, I haven't laid a finger on them."

Eyvel:
"...Are you really going to let me see them?"

Reidric:
"You have my word."

Eyvel:
"...All right. Please show me to them..."

(Scene switches to Sety)

Sety:
"Brighton, I want you to rescue the people trapped in the dungeon level. I will go search for the children with Asvel."

Brighton:
"Yes. We will go to your aid once we release the people here."

Sety:
"Very well, then we shall meet again. Good luck!"

(Scene switches to Brighton)

Machua:
"Lara, you're our only hope. Will you be all right?"

Lara:
"Yeah, leave the lockpicking to me. But make sure you protect me, all right?"

Brighton:
"If someone attacks you, just take his weapons. You can do that much."

Lara:
"Well, that's easier said than done. I can't carry heavy weapons like you can."

Machua:
"Don't worry, Lara. Brighton and I will protect you. Let's go!"

1st Turn

Lifis:
"Damn... This just ain't my day."

Bandit 1:
"Um, excuse me... Are you Lifis, the boss of the Lifis Pirates?"

Lifis:

Bandit 1:
"I knew it! You look just like the guy in the wanted ad."

Lifis:

Bandit 1:

Lifis:
"...Well, I was actually thinking of a way to get out of these prison cell."

Bandit 1:
"What? We can get out of here?"

Lifis:
"Think, you idiot. Once the boys find out that I've been captured, they'll be sure to come rescue me, right? I'll be out of here sometime soon. So it'll only be a short while, but let's be friends, eh?"

Bandit 1:
"W-Wait! In that case, can you let me go with you?"

Lifis:
"Well... I'll consider if you work for it."

Bandit 1:
"Really!? Leave it to me! See these muscles? I'll knock out a guard or two any day!"

Bandit 2:
"L-Lifis! Let me go with you, too!"

Bandit 3:
"Hey, me too!"

Lifis:
"Haha... Idiots are so easy to manipulate. Now I just have to wait for a chance..."

2nd Turn

Fergus:
"Looks like everyone's getting excited now. So what did you do to get caught?"

Leaf:
"...Who are you?"

Fergus:
"I'm Fergus, a traveling mercenary. Back in the city, I saw some soldiers harrassing a girl, so I went in to stop them. And the next thing I know, I get thrown in here. Great, huh?"

Karin:
"You call that just 'stopping'? You nearly killed him. Poor thing..."

Fergus:
"Well, I hate to remind you, but you're the one who stepped up to them first."

Karin:
"Yeah, and then they threw me in here as well because they thought I was with you. It's all your fault! What am I going to do now..."

Fergus:
"Come on, there's no point in crying over spilled milk. Yawn... I'm kinda tired, so I think I'll take a nap. Wake me up at dinnertime."

Karin:

Leaf:

Karin:

Fergus:

Guard:

Fergus:

Karin:

Fergus:

When Lifis's cell is opened

Bandit 1:
"Hey, boss! The cell door's open. Wow, it really did happen like you said!"

Lifis:
"......"

Bandit 1:
"Huh? What's the matter? Aren't you happy your friends came to help you?"

Lifis:
"What? Y-Yeah... Of course I am. ...Well, someone really did come... I guess talking through my hat sometimes does work..."

When Leaf's cell is opened

(If Fergus and Karin are alive)

Fergus:
"Well, Prince Leaf, looks like someone came to rescue us. Let's get out of here while we can."

Leaf:
"Who are they...?"

Fergus:
"It could be anybody. For now, we have to run. The stairs to the north lead outside. I'll buy time for you, so you go first."

Leaf:
"But what about you?"

Fergus:
"Probably we'll get captured again. But I don't mind as long as you're able to escape."

Leaf:
"I can't do that! When I escape, so does everyone else!"

Fergus:
"Ha... All right, kid. I'll tag along with you for a while. I can't really just ditch you after hearing that story."

Karin:
"Well... I guess everyone does have their fine points."

Fergus:
"What, are you attracted to me now?"

Karin:
"Huh? N-No, of course not!"

Fergus:
"Just kidding. Well, what are you going to do? The leader of the Magi group is a guy named Sety. Isn't that the prince you're looking for?"

Karin:
"Yes, most likely. But right now we need to help Lord Leaf. I can't forgive that Reidric person for taking girls as hostages. I'll help Lord Leaf escape, too."

Fergus:
"You? Can you fight?"

Karin:
"I'll do my best!"

Fergus:
"Well, well... Looks like I got a quite a handful now..."

Conversation (Leaf/Lifis, Dalshin)

Dalshin:
"What!? My brother was captured in the child hunting!? I see... That's it, I've had it with Reidric and the Empire. I'll join you!"

Fighting Dalshin

Dalshin:
"All of you! Return to your cells!"

Defeating Dalshin

Dalshin:
"Diana... I won't be able to make it home... Take care...of Yuvel..."

Releasing Dalshin

Dalshin:
"Soft ones... But now I owe them."

After beating the map

Manfroy:
"Berdo, how is the child hunting coming along?"

Berdo:
"Yes, Bishop Manfroy, the citizens protested in some areas, we managed to round up all of the children."

Manfroy:
"Good. Now we only have Tahra left. If they insist on protesting, don't hesitate to burn them down, city and all. It shall set an example for the other cities. Have no mercy."

Berdo:
"Of course. However, the Freeji generals seem to be hesitant. They have surrounded the city, but they seem reluctant to step in."

Manfroy:
"Queen Ishtar... Your father seems unwilling to fight. May I have an explanation?"

Ishtar:
"My father is hesitating because many important nobles are voicing their concern with the child hunting. My brother is also strongly against this act. Bishop Manfroy, please stop the child hunting. It is unbearable to separate young children from their parents. And sacrificing them to Lopto is not something that a humane person would do!"

Yurius:
